Frederick v Oakdale GBB
Tuesday night was the Frederick girls’ senior night against a solid Oakdale squad. The Cadets would have to play without Head Coach Ashley Bush, and I could not get an answer as to the reasoning for her absence. The Cadets also had five players leave recently, so we did not see the typical start to finish full court press we are accustom to, in order to avoid getting into foul trouble.
The first half was tight and hard fought, both teams played aggressively on both ends of the court and ended up going into the bonus. Going into the half the score was tied up at 24. In the third quarter the Cadets made a push and were able to gather a lead. But the Bears were not to be counted out, they kept their cool, worked hard and were able to pull within 4 with 2:33 left in the game. From this point on it was a back and forth battle with Frederick trying to extend the lead and Oakdale fighting back each time they did. In the end Frederick was able to hold off Oakdale and come away with the 54-46 victory.
