3A Championship – Linganore v Damascus

Thursday I had the honor of shooting the Linganore Lancers in the 3A Championship game for the third time in as many years, where they faced a physically dominating Demascus team. Damascus was able to control the line on both sides of the ball, keeping the Lancers to just 66 total yards while racking up 463 yards on offense. Damascus took the W in a convincing fashion with a 38-0 victory.
Having been on both sides of a game like this in my own athletic career, I want to first say “congratulations” to Damascus – well done! They had an amazing game to end a great season, and now they get to walk away as champions.
I also want to congratulate the Linganore boys. I know a loss can be disappointing, but they had an incredible season that they should be proud of. The loss might sting, but this season and this team are so much more than that one game. I look forward to seeing what Coach Conner has in store next year, as he has built a great program at Linganore and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are back on this stage next year!
